For the past year The GHCA has presented a series of lectures studying the relationships between geology and the Genesis Flood. We have often taken advantage of the classroom lectures recorded by PhD geologists during the IGH Conference in June 2017. In the process we have seen that a very broad range of geologic evidences can be explained by a young creation and a catastrophic Genesis Flood as well and often much better than conventional slow and gradual geology. At the January 3rd GHCA meeting we will review the most important facts that we have covered in a top down fashion that emphasizes the big picture. A clear vision of the way the main geological puzzle pieces fit together into the big picture is the most important take away to get. Just having seen a bunch of isolated facts or puzzle pieces is of little value. However, the seeing how they support the big picture in a systematic way is very powerful. In the near future we will turn to other major topics, so be sure to come cement this big picture into your mind now.

We will look at the rise of massive granite mountains like the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most everyone has a mental picture of the huge granite mountains surrounding the famously beautiful Yosemite National Park. These mountains are made by huge blobs of molten granite rock called plutons that rose though the rock layers below the mountains. The plutons come from the subducting ocean plates scraping on the underside of continental rocks.
For many years the conventional view was that it took vast ages for these plutons to rise through the continental rocks and cool to form the mountains we see today. That view has often been pushed as a sure disproof of the Genesis Flood. However, in recent decades secular scientists have recognized several mechanisms that allow the plutons to rise much faster than they previously thought. But considering these mechanisms in the context of catastrophic plate tectonics, with the plates scraping past one another at speeds around one meter per second, throws a new light on these processes. The alternating stick and slip motion of the scraping plates proposed at the recent International Conference on Creationism could provide a pumping action for the production and raising of these plutons. We will also discuss the physical evidence and effects of the accelerated radioactive decay that we have recently discussed.
This will be a really interesting study showing how many things can work together to accomplish amazing things.
