Joseph and Jacob in Egyptian Archaeology

An IGH lecture recorded by Dr. Doug Petrovich

Many scholars fail to find archaeological evidence of Joseph, Jacob, the Israelites, or the Exodus because they make some wrong assumptions and then look for the wrong things at the wrong places and times. Thus it is a common conclusion that the associated Biblical history is as much mythology as anything else. In this lecture (and the next two) PhD Archaeologist, Doug Petrovich, will show that there is indeed much archeological evidence that Joseph and Jacob actually played the roles in Egyptian history that are portrayed in the Bible. Later, that is also extended to the Exodus and beyond. This is extremely important and exciting material. It will ‘blow your socks off’ so to speak! More important, every Christian leader needs to become familiar with Dr. Petrovich’s work.

Identifying Babel and its Tower

An IGH lecture recorded by Dr. Doug Petrovich

We will review last month’s lecture in which Dr. Petrovich identifies the archaeological movement of people that corresponds to the dispersion of people after the Babel confusion of language as the Uruk Expansion. We will consider each of the eight conclusions Dr. Petrovich itemizes at the end of that lecture. Then we will view and discuss Dr. Petrovich’s lecture titled Identifying Babel and its Tower where he identifies just where the city of Babel and it’s tower were located. He will also  show the archaeological record of civilization leading up to and including Babel and the aftermath of the sudden occurrence of multiple languages. Conventional archaeology fails to recognize these connections to Biblical events. A future lecture will identify the archaeology of Joseph and Jacob in Egypt and more. This material should be of keen interest to all interested in the Bible

Identifying the Post Babel Dispersion

In the first lecture in this recorded IGH series on Biblical History and Archaeology, Dr. Doug Petrovitch gave us an introduction to modern archaeological methods. He notes that archaeological scholars are split between on how to synchronize ancient historical events and C-14 dates prior to the ~1400 BC divergence.  He proposes that only a solid Biblical History can successfully resolve this split. He then built a basic Old Testament chronological scheme developed from three cardinal events that can be given solid Biblical dates: the fall of Jerusalem, the Exodus, and the entry of Jacob into Egypt. This month he will show how this allows him to identify the Babel dispersion and its historical context. Next month he will deal with the identification of Babel itself and the associated people and times.  In future lectures Dr Petrovitch will discuss his research into Jacob and Joseph in Egypt and the world’s oldest alphabet. Dr. Petrovitch is the first archaeologist to do this in any substantial detail. We will stop at appropriate points in these recorded lectures for Q&A and discussion.

Without a solid Biblical chronological scheme most archaeologist throw up their hands and conclude that everything before David has a large mix of mythology. But Petrovitch with a PhD in Archaeology and a strong Biblical faith is pointing the way forward that is consistent with the YEC hypothesis. He makes a good case that he can relate everything after the Flood with the surrounding archaeology.
