Dear GHCA supporters,

Many have felt a strong impact from our presentations of Dr Doug Petrovich’s work on the archaeology of the Hebrew sojourn in Egypt. That includes the events surrounding Joseph’s predicted seven years of abundance and of famine; the entry of Jacob’s clan; the invention and first use of the first alphabetic language – Hebrew, written on through to the Exodus event. On December 3 I presented a detailed presentation of this material from Dr. Petrovich and some of you were in the audience that night. The next step is to get this material on the GHCA website and then make a mailing calling Dr. Petrovich’s work to the attention of the leadership of Houston’s Christian community.

A final version of that work, done for our website, is unfortunately not ready yet. So I will cancel the January GHCA presentation to provide needed time to complete the Petrovich archaeology project. As I bring that project to completion I hope to line up a series of very knowledgeable outside speakers to present at the GHCA via Zoom. In the mean time, I will research and prepare updates in the major areas of geology, isotope dating, cosmology, genetics, and biology. Please pray for God’s blessings on all of this work.

Funding of GHCA’s work is another issue for the New Year. I know that nearly everyone is on a tighter budget than usual and some are desperate. However, we need some funding from those who can afford it. True, the IRS has not granted us a tax exemption, but even so, we need some significant operating funds. Please consider this in your end of the year giving. The simplest way to give is send a check made out to GHCA and mail it to:

New Archaeological Evidence

of the Hebrew Sojourn in Egypt

On Dec 3rd the GHCA presentation will wrap up our year long study of archaeological evidence of Biblical events before the time of King David. This presentation will bring together the different topics we have looked at into a fairly complete archaeological picture of the Hebrew sojourn in Egypt.

Most of this new evidence comes out of the work of Archaeologist Dr. Douglas Petrovich including a more complete decipherment of the earliest alphabetic inscriptions and the first written form of Hebrew. These inscriptions started appearing at the time when Jacob entered Egypt with Joseph second in command over all but the pharaoh.

For decades many claimed this indicates that the Bible is largely mythological. That includes the secular community, and all too often Christian institutions. However, archaeological evidence of events from the kingdoms of Judah and Israel was missing but over the years more and more have been found. These finds clearly demonstrated that these events are not mythological and suggests that with diligent efforts we might well fine archaeological evidence of earlier events as well.

Archaeologist Dr. Douglas Petrovich has recently produced an abundance of systematic evidence confirming the Hebrew sojourn in Egypt very much as presented in the Bible. Many question still remain concerning the Exodus route after leaving Egypt but abundance of new evidence cannot be ignored. This abundance of new systematic evidence is of strategic importance to faith in the Christian Community and to reaching out to the secular community and countering erroneous claims of mythology.

GHCA Archaeology Study

For a very long time many authorities and leaders inside and outside the Christian community have asserted that they see no archaeological evidence of Biblical events from times before the kingdoms of Judah and Israel. Lacking archaeological evidence has widely been taken as indicating everything much before David in the Bible is mythological. That means that there will be little interest in either creation science or Christian theology which flows out of Genesis. However, over the last two decades much has been discovered to provide specific archaeological evidence for a Babel dispersion of language groups and for the Biblical roles of Joseph, Jacob, Manasseh, and Ephraim in Egypt. In fact these produced the world’s first alphabetic language. But the archeological evidence still grows sparse for the Exodus through the Conquest of Canaan.

For the next month or so we will concentrate on developing a thorough overview of the evidences presented over our year long Archaeology study. A month by month review can be found in our newsletter archive. The overview we are developing will bring it all together as a consistent whole with good documentation for articles and video on this website.
