February 13 at 7 pm, GHCA meeting and webinar:
Ellis Huges’ 20 Reasons to Question Plate Tectonics
Examined by Geoscientist Rod Kirkpatric
In 2023 Ellis Hughes published a book critiquing the “standard” form of plate tectonics and continental drift over the last billions of years or more. I put the word “standard” in quotations because over the last few decades many geoscientists have recognized various technical problems with the standard model of plate tectonics and presented various fixes or improvement. On February 13th Geoscientist Rod Kirkpatric will examine some the most important of the 2o questions. We will see why these improvements are needed. We will also see something about why no combination of these improvements are entirely successful. Sometime in the future we will examine the role of our partial ignorance of the stress vs strain properties of rocks or minerals at extreme temperatures at great depths and pressures inside of the Earth. Eventually we will see what different scientists have done to gain some new knowledge experimentally or to work around areas of ignorance theoretically. Please join us for this adventure of science and Bible discovery.
